To All the Boys I've Loved Before Book Cover (2025)
CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY
For my recreation of the banned book cover To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, I wanted to visually capture the quiet vulnerability and emotional intimacy at the heart of the story. I drew from the soft, dreamy aesthetic of the movie, particularly the pastel tones that define Lara Jean’s world—like the pale teal of her bedroom walls and the soft pinks found in her bedding, decor, and stationery. These colors aren’t just pretty; they reflect her introspective, romantic nature and the safe, personal space where much of the story unfolds. To reinforce the deeply personal act of letter writing central to the plot, I incorporated handwritten-style typography, evoking the feel of a journal or note passed in secret. My goal was to design a cover that feels as heartfelt and genuine as the letters Lara Jean never meant to send—something intimate, nostalgic, and emotionally resonant.
